The Pupsicle has a new mission!

After stumbling upon a website dealing with carting with your dog,( in fact that's what it's called), we decided this looked like a whole lot of fun and could be a very fitting occupation for a fila! So after a brief but productive foray onto eBay, the Pupsicle has himself a beautiful red carting harness lined with padding and fake fur.

He looks very handsome in it, if we say so ourselves.

The Pupsicle had his first lesson in pulling today...we went 1.4 miles to mailbox and back, with a heavy chain attached to the traces on his harness. The chain is to accustom him to the feel of resistance on the harness and strange sounds coming from behind him. He has to learn to go forward and pull in the harness, but never pull against his collar! Interesting how he is all business when the harness is buckled on...smart little dude...needless to say, mom is quite proud!

He performed like a champ, walking on steadily the whole way with only a brief episode at a tortoise crossing our path...the Pupsicle tends to regard all reptiles with deep suspicion, lol!

Tomorrow there will be a bunch of new voice commands to start learning. We don't have a cart yet, but there are several plans online for training carts that look promising. Can't wait!
