The Vet
Well, the Pupsicle finally got to the vet to get his final shots, Frontline and a deworming.
The transmission fell out of my truck several months ago so we've been farm bound, a tragedy because this meant the Xi dog had to stay home instead of making friends and influencing people.
So you can understand my apprehension when finally a Ford Bronco came into our lives and all of a sudden we were mobile again, and a trip to the vet was very much overdue and thus imminent. And here's Pupsicle just getting a start on the huff and growl stage. So I warned them before getting him in the door.
Our vet has never heard of Filas, let alone treated one here in the bodacious boonies of east Tennessee, so she was almost as nervous as me, hopping around like a demented sparrow and keeping her distance, while Xi took the muzzle and the shots like a pro. Can't weigh him, she gasped, scuttling away, he's too long for the scale. The vet and assistants glowered muttering from behind the counter as we left. Couldn't figure it out since he had behaved so well.
It was only on the way home it occurred to me that it was the garlic. See I have this thing about keeping the flu virus away by chewing raw garlic. I get pneumonia a lot so it's an act of desperation what with all the rumors of imported bird flu and SARS and the like, and so far it's worked. Trust me, you can keep a Tyrannosaurus Rex away if you chew raw garlic, so what's a flu virus to solid wall of garlic reek?
