Two New Fila Brasileiro Articles Posted

Donna Lindsey of Castle Filas graciously gave us permission to post her articles to the Fila Brasileiro Portal:

The first is an article on adjusting alpha behavior on your fila:

The second article is about poison proofing your fila. Very handy if you live in one of those neighborhoods with a high crime rate and where your fila may be the target of poisoning so the tsotsis can get into your house:

Fila Brasileiro Puppies - to import or not to import?

Seems lately more and more people are asking about the possibilities of importing their Fila Brasileiro puppies from Brazil as opposed to getting them from local breeders. The question is...why the sudden interest?

In my own case it was mostly because I preferred the CFIB type dogs and of course wanted the chrome, and of course a breeder I know was heading to Brazil to pick out pups for himself and offered to find me one. (I couldn't pick out a decent Fila if it bit me on the butt)

However, most of the fila enthusiasts I've spoken to seem to favor the heavier and larger American bred dogs - "Fila Americano" for want of a better term. I have to wonder if perhaps it is because some people are looking for a harder temperament and more courage on their dogs and believe the Brazilian bred Fila Brasileiro puppy will have a better chance of growing into a hard dog than the it's USA cousins.

To be honest, I have no idea. Only time will tell if Miz Lua turns out to be a braver and harder dog than Del Rio. At the moment that certainly seems to be the case, but the fat lady aint sung yet.

I know where my next fila brasileiro puppies are coming from ...it's just a matter of WHEN.
