the fila does have it's health issues and problems.
Bloat

generalized incongruence of the elbow joint in young, large, rapidly
growing dogs that is related to abnormal bone growth, joint stresses, or
cartilage development.

Less than 70% of the Fila Brasileiros evaluated by the Orthopedic
Foundation for Animals have normal hips. Approximately 20% of Filas
studied have Canine Elbow Dysplasia. This site is being designed as a
tool, and represents work in progress. The goals include provision of
information on individual dogs to those who are seriously dedicated to
improving the breed. Intelligent use of this information will result in
the reduction of canine hip dysplasia and canine elbow dysplasia in the
Fila Brasileiro.
