Fila Brasileiro Breeders Directory: Buying a fila brasileiro pup is a big step as well as an expensive one, and the result is a commitment for hopefully the next ten years at least to your new family member.

Unfortunately there appears to be as many flavors of Fila Brasileiro as there are fila breeders, and one size does not fit all. This is a work in progress...I'm trying to gather as much information on breeders as possible so you as a potential puppy buyer will be able to make a more informed choice based on what is important to you.

What the abbreviations mean:

W/S means does this breeder work or show their dogs? If only W is visible, they only work their dogs. If it's the S, they show only. For example, working would include herding, droving, weight pull, carting or advanced training, bitework, etc. An N in this column means the breeder does neither.

Bloodlines/Type refers to the type of fila the breeder is producing. Almost everyone registers CBKC, including most of the breeders who select for a more traditional looking fila, simply because they can...however, I've used CAFIB and CBKC here because there is a difference in the type preferred. CAFIB in this column does NOT mean the breeder is a member of CAFIB or that their dogs are CAFIB registered, it just means that the type of fila they are producing favors those that CAFIB promotes.

TT means does this this breeder temperament test their dogs. Since this breed is a guardian breed, temperament testing is an extremely important part of the equation.
